Felted Fun

I am getting on the felting train entirely too late, but it is fun!!!

They crochet up soo fast and are easy peasy!

I think this one is soo fun. I used Patons yarn in multi color. I love the wya that it made verticla stripes! IN my opinion, patons yarn felts must faster than Cascade 220. With Patons I only need to run through cycle once, with Cascade 220 I usually have to do it twice. But Cascade 220 has such a variety of fun colors! (sorry about horrible grammar)

I just did this one today. Again made out of Patons Yarn.

If you like these bowls you can find them at http://www.harddaysknit.etsy.com

If your a crocheter and knitter, you should most definitedly experiment making these (if you haven’t already). They are so fun and useful!

My Big Old Granny

grannysquare1

I have been going back and forth deciding what I want to do with all of my leftover scraps of sock yarn. do I want to make a blanket or socks? I started the Sock Yarn Blanket by Shelly Kang, but i wasn’t enjoying it and didn’t like how the back of it looked. I started just knitting squares but that was tedious. I started playing around with monster socks put didn’t like joining new yarn and weaving them all in constantly. Then yesterday I started thinking about granny squares. They have to be one of my favorite things to make. They crochet up fast, you don’t have to think to make them, and there are countless ways to do them and what you can use them for. So I got out my big bag of scrap sock yarn and started to make them!

Then my mom saw them and she fell in love with them. In her “sweet” “charming” voice she said, “Can I have it?” How can I say no to my mother?! So I said of course. I’m starting to see a pattern, with all of the blankets I’m working on my mother decides to “adopt” them. LOL.

So now I am really digging this afghan, but here is where I call on the help from my fellow knitters. If you have any leftover fingering weight (doesn’t matter what color, or if it’s machine washable or not) that you don’t want or can “donate to me” I would be soo soo soo grateful. If you can, just send me an email at harddaysknit@yahoo.com. I would love you forever 😉

Pop of Color

knitting-0011

Started this rippled blanket a couple days ago. My mom saw and she instantly wanted it. So this is going to her. I’m using leftover Red Heart acrylic yarn. I normally don’t use acrylic, but I don’t mind when it is for a blanket. This thig is massive. I chained something like 156.

I’m setting up a new etsy shop where I’m going to sell dish cloths. I started crocheting these and they are very addictive. It takes me about half an hour to finish a large one. It is so relaxing! I love the bright colors of cotton that they are selling now. Summer colors!

I bought this journal a couple of days ago. I dedicated it to knitting and I am addicted to it!. I carry it around with me and jot notes, ideas, designs, and info about projects in it.

knitting-021

This comes especially in handy when I am laying in bed and knitting ideas creep into my head. I can jot them down and I’m able to fall asleep. I have been falling asleep faster and I actually remember my ideas from last night!

I am also putting pics and information of projects in here. It’s like Ravelry in a notebook. I’m doing this so when I become older (hopefully a knitting prodigy by then LOL) I’ll have this notebook because I don’t know if Ravelry will still be here in 40 years. Probably there will be something better and more high tech than the computer. So  I want something like Ravelry that I know will last forever!

These are really fun. I think that all knitters should get one. It really does change the way you knit. Just get a cheap (but cute) journal at Target, and fill it up wit everything knitting!

knitting-022 I bought “Super Stitches Knitting” by Karen Hemingway yesterday. It is a great reference book with beautiful pictures. Each stitch is knitted out of bright color yarn and the stitches are organized beautifully. I already have post it stickies all over it.

Bright coors make me soo HAPPY!!!!

1st Post

It seems only appropriate that for my first post that I should tell you a little bit about myself so that we can get this thing rolling. I’m really bad at doing this sort of thing though because my life is dreadfully uneventful. Well here it is:

I should first start out saying that I LOVE to knit. Any free time I have I am usually knitting. Even when I don’t have free time I am knitting. I obviously also like to go on the internet during my free time.  I can also crochet, but I’d rather knit.  I just think that there are a lot more cute things to knit!

The second thing that is crucial for everyone to know is that I have a puppy! I love her and there may be many a posts about her (sorry everyone!) Her name is Sophie and she’s a morkie (maltese and yorkie) To me, her face is a morkie and her ears and bodies are yorkie. She is very sassy and spunky, but at times she is just as cuddly.

crochetafghan-041

Those are the most basic things that you have to know about me. The final thing is that I am in no way an “emo” or depressed person. I am a very happy person and I don’t like to dwell on the negative. I am not going to be talking about politics, Obama, or religion. Probably the most controversial topic I’ll talk about is which is better: dpns or circular needles 🙂 That leads us to the poll of the week :
